MOSCOW, March 14. /TASS/. The Kalashnikov concern (part of state Corporation rostec) is planning to start serial production of the latest light machine guns RPK-16 next year. In an interview with TASS the General Director of the concern Alexey Krivoruchko.
“This year we have already received a formal request from the Ministry of defence, in the near future a contract will be signed and the first batch for testing we need to supply to the customer. I think mass production will begin next year after the completion of the experimental military operation,” – said Krivoruchko.
A light machine gun Kalashnikov RPK-16 of caliber of 5,45 mm were created on the basis of the experience of modern armed conflicts. It premiered at the exhibition of arms “Army in 2016.”
The design of the gun provides the possibility of replacing the barrel for the use of the product as a light machine gun (long barrel) variant assault rifle (short barrel). A specially designed new disk store high capacity – 96 rounds that can be used to Kalashnikovs.
