In the state Duma praised the idea of creating private prisons for businessmen

The initiative on creation in Russia of private prisons for entrepreneurs premature and unlikely to find support among the public. This view was expressed by the first Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on state building and law Mikhail Emelyanov, the Agency reports city news “Moscow” on Monday, March 13.

“Unfortunately, too many businesses wrongly convicted, and they are perceived as fraudsters and criminals. The idea of private prisons in such a public atmosphere can hardly be maintained,” — said Emelyanov.

Thus the Deputy has commented on media reports that the all-Russian public organization “Business Russia” working on the idea of the introduction of correctional institutions on a commercial basis to the business. The goal of this initiative of the humanist is to give the convicted the opportunity for successful rehabilitation.

To start implementing the ideas it is important to “understand the reaction of the public”, say the authors. In that case, if positive, will be prepared the corresponding bill which will bring the government apparatus.

In mid-January this year, the head of the state Duma Committee on state construction and legislation Pavel Krasheninnikov criticized the idea of creating in Russia a paid prisons for the wealthy. He pointed out that it “contradicted not only the law but also the Constitution.”

Private prisons are in the USA, the UK, Norway, Australia. The creation of such institutions on a commercial basis is also being discussed in Latvia, Germany, Japan, the Czech Republic, and South Africa.
