Afghanistan asked Russia for help in restoring Soviet buildings

Afghanistan asked for assistance from Russia in the restoration of the 124 facilities that were built by the Soviet Union, reports the newspaper “Izvestia“. In exchange, Kabul has promised to support the Russian business.


 


“Many of the facilities in Afghanistan were built by Soviet specialists and can be restored by Russia. Over 100 of them, to be exact – 124,” said an attache of the Afghan Embassy in Moscow, Mohammad Qasem.


 


He added that the countries have already discussed the request of Afghanistan. On 3 March Ambassador of Afghanistan in Moscow, Abdul Kochai met with state Secretary – Deputy Minister of energy of the Russian Federation and cochairman of the Russian-Afghan economic and trade Commission Yury M. Santorini which raised the issue of restoration of the objects. According to Qassem, Afghanistan’s President Ashraf Ghani has strongly advocated the strengthening of the Russian economic presence in the country.
