The U.S. justice Department fired who refused to resign attorney Manhattan

Moscow. March 11. INTERFAX.RU — the U.S. justice Department dismissed the Prosecutor of Manhattan Prit Bharara, who refused to voluntarily resign by order of the administration of President Donald trump, said Bharara on Saturday in his Twitter.

“I have not resigned. A few seconds later, I was fired. Work in the Prosecutor’s office for the southern district of new York will forever be the greatest honor in my career,” he wrote.

I did not resign. Moments ago I was fired. Being the US Attorney in SDNY will forever be the greatest honor of my professional life.

Earlier it was reported that Bharara refused to leave his post because in November, immediately after the presidential election, trump promised that he will not fire him. However, last Friday the U.S. justice Department, following the order of the White house, recommended to retire 46 the Federal prosecutors appointed during the administration of Barack Obama. Among them were Bharata.
