The EU will dramatically reduce the financial aid of Turkey to the European integration

In the EU intend to block payments on projects related to the European integration of the Turkish Republic, this was stated by the European Commissioner for neighbourhood policy and enlargement negotiations Johannes Hahn, reports Deutsche Welle.


 


“The negative trend began even before the July coup, they contradict not only EU standards, but international law… Turkey is moving towards Europe, and in the opposite direction… We are legally obligated to match financial support with the progress achieved by the country”, – leads edition of the words of the Khan.


 


It is reported that currently the European Union has turned Turkey’s 167 million euros out of the planned four and a half billion, which the country had to get by 2020. The decision to block financial aid can be taken at the next meeting of heads of diplomacy of European Union countries, according to the material.
