The Minister of foreign Affairs of Canada has accused Russia of slander against her grandfather

The foreign Minister of Canada Chrystia Freeland accused Moscow of distributing fake information about her grandfather Mikhail Hamster during the Second world war collaborated with the Nazis. On Wednesday, March 9, reports the Washington Post.

According to The Washington Post, the representative of the Russian Embassy in Ottawa Kirill Kalinin, commenting on the situation said that the Russian government strongly believes that Nazism and its followers should be condemned.

Earlier, in an interview with journalists, the canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail Kalinin has noticed that the foreign Minister at one of his press conferences and did not give a direct answer to the question, what did her grandfather in Krakow during the Second world war. He added that Russian authorities not connected with the publication of the Hamster.

Freeland headed the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Canada 10 Jan. The Washington Post has noticed that relations between Ottawa and Moscow have become quite strained on the background of the conflict in the East of Ukraine. In 2014, Freeland is under Russian sanctions, imposed in response to restrictive measures of Ottawa.

According to the newspaper, Mikhail Hamster after the war emigrated to the canadian province of Alberta, was a member of the Ukrainian community. He died in 1984.
