Scientists have found the cause of alcoholism
MOSCOW, 9 Mar — RIA Novosti. Addiction to alcohol could result in violations of the “pleasure hormone” — dopamine. It is reported RT with reference to the joint research of the Higher school of Economics, Nizhny Novgorod Institute of applied physics RAS, Higher normal schools (France) and Indiana University (USA).
Alcohol interferes with the normal functioning of neurons that produce dopamine, the excess of which leads to the fixing of habits, both positive and negative. Among them, in particular, can be addiction to alcohol.
When alcohol affects the dopamine center “gratification” of the nervous system, making the person look forward to the next “dose” of alcohol and get pleasure from the process of its use.
As the researchers note, the results of this study offer more opportunities for the treatment of alcoholism: restoring the balance of dopamine in the body will help the person to respond adequately to external stimuli and faster to get rid of dependence.
