In the North Caucasus has filed a bid to host first gay pride parade

In Cherkessk (Karachay-Cherkessia) LGBT activists submitted to the municipality, the notification on holding of the gay parade. On Friday, March 10, according to kp.ru.

The event is scheduled for March 21 in the format of the procession. The estimated number of participants — 300 people. The activists intend to hold a rally in defense of the rights of sexual minorities and a tolerant attitude towards them. It is noted that the request will be considered within the provisions of law 10 days.

A source in city hall said that the resolution to the event is unlikely to be given. “Too much negativity already manifested to such actions, it is impossible to imagine that this will resolve in a Caucasian city. Had the authorities to protect gays from the locals, it may even lead to unrest,” he said.

In January, the authorities located on the Arctic circle Salekhard banned there a gay pride parade. It was argued that the reason for this decision was the act on the protection of children from information harmful to their health and development.

In November 2016, the authorities banned LGBT activists from holding public events in Novosibirsk, in October, in Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Saransk and Penza. In September refused to agree on holding a gay pride parade in Tyumen, Kaluga, Tula, Tver, Saint-Petersburg, Vladimir and Yaroslavl. The organizers appealed against these decisions in the courts.
