The first Prime Minister Vitold Fokin said that Kyiv in 2014 could sell Crimea to Russia. He told about it in interview to TV channel “112 Ukraine”.

“Unlikely story, but it is that Crimea is just sold. We cannot exclude this point,” said Fokin. He added that in the Ukrainian capital in the spring of 2014, there was panic and confusion.

According to the former head of the government, if the Peninsula in 2014 is not reunited with Russia, Moscow would have lost him for good, “because come here and see the Americans.” “American carriers entered the Mediterranean sea, passed the Dardanelles, the Bosphorus. And Russia should understand — she had a fleet,” said Fokin.

January 20, Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, one of the leaders of the banned in Russia as extremist organization “the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people” Mustafa Dzhemilev said that Kyiv will not be able to return the Crimea by military means. According to him, such a scenario will lead to great human losses. He stressed that the return to Kiev, the Peninsula does not help even a higher level of life in Ukraine. “When they say, well, let’s give the country a good life and the Crimean residents want Ukraine, it is absurd,” — suggested the MP.

Crimea became part of Russia in March 2014 following a referendum. Kiev does not recognize the voting results and calls the Peninsula occupied territory. In Moscow insist that the procedure conforms to the norms of international law.

Witold Fokin headed the government of independent Ukraine from September 1991 to October 1992. Prior to that, from October 1990, he held the position of Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR.
