The Bezymianny volcano on the Kamchatka Peninsula received a “red” code aviation hazard
PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, 9 Mar β RIA Novosti. The Bezymianny volcano on the Kamchatka scientists have found the highest “red” code aviation hazard, according to the Kamchatka group volcanic eruption response (KVERT) Institute of Volcanology and seismology Feb RAS.
“Red” aviation code means that the volcano is a danger for local aviation and international airlines.
At any time there may occur emissions of ash to a height of 10-15 km
“On Thursday afternoon on the volcano were recorded by a powerful ash emission, which was the beginning of explosive eruptions Nameless. According to KVERT, the height of release was about 7 km, and the plume has spread to 112 km in a North-westerly direction from the volcano,” β said in the message.
Earlier it was reported that, according to the Kamchatka branch of the Geophysical service of RAS, the height of ash emissions could be up to 10 km above sea level. Deposition of ash in residential areas is not fixed.
Bezymianny volcano is one of the most active and dangerous volcanoes in the world. It is located about 500 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on the Eastern coast of Kamchatka, its height is 2.9 thousand meters. The current explosive eruption began at the volcano after more than four years of silence. The previous explosive eruption here was recorded on 1 September 2012.
