The rating of the most environmentally friendly capitals in the world

The world health organization, analyzing the level of air pollution, prepared a report on the environmental status of cities around the world. Appeared in the list as the cleanest of the capital and the most “toxic”.

British newspaper the Telegraph on the basis of the who report made a rating of the 10 most environmentally friendly capitals of the world. It is headed by Swedish Stockholm, which by 2050 is planning to abandon the use of fossil fuels — oil, coal, gas, and other combustible substances.

For Stockholm is the new Zealand capital of Wellington, which the authorities have embarked on ambitious programmes of energy efficiency and projects for waste management.

The third Australian Canberra with a population of 400,000 people, which gives the capital an advantage over, for example, similar square, Amsterdam, where there are twice more people. As notes the edition, Canberra has earned the status of most boring capital. This is forgivable: the air is still very clean.

In fourth position is located in Ottawa (Canada), and on the fifth Scottish Edinburgh. In the top ten in descending order were also included Montevideo (Uruguay), Tallinn (Estonia), Helsinki (Finland), Monaco and Madrid (Spain).

The most contaminated of the world capitals was voted Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). Rating also went new Delhi (India) and Doha (Qatar).

Who, forming the rating relied on data about normal atmospheric concentrations of fine particles PM 2.5, which are in the air of cities in a suspended state. The norm established by the world health organization is 25 micrograms/1m3.
