The OPEC Secretary General Mohammed Barkindo during his speech in Houston was joking about the automatic acceptance of Russia in the cartel, reports RIA Novosti.
“Nice to hear from Minister Novak, I always agree with him, except one — the unwillingness of Russia to join the OPEC. I talked to him later and said that, in my opinion, you deserve automatic acceptance into OPEC,” said Barkindo.
Earlier, Russian energy Minister Alexander Novak at an energy conference CERAWeek said that Russia is not considering the issue of membership in the Organization of countries – exporters of oil.
