Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev compared the actions of some members of the Eurasian economic Union (EEU) with blackmail and urged the partners “to exercise in the calculation of” price of Russian gas. His words on Tuesday, March 7, reports TASS.
“The execution of the agreements we reached and he integration process as a whole become hostage to specifically understand the national interests,” Medvedev said at the session of the Eurasian intergovernmental Council in Bishkek.
According to him, when there are contentious issues between the two countries occurs is inadmissible against the other members of the Union. “This situation is akin to blackmail: either you affect the decision of the other party to the dispute, or we will not sign it”, — said the Russian Prime Minister.
Medvedev noted that the problems of bilateral relations natural and “there is nothing dramatic”. However, they must not be transferred to the multilateral platform of the Eurasian Union.
The Russian Prime Minister also stressed that, if some participating countries at the time not joined the EEU, it would be forced to buy gas at higher prices. “About 200 dollars per thousand cubic meters. That’s all. Don’t need to prove anything, to practice calculations. It would have been significantly, much more expensive,” — said Medvedev.
In conclusion, he recalled that the Union “no one forcibly holds”.
On 28 February the President of Russia Vladimir Putin called natural recurring disputes between the neighboring countries, including between Russia and Belarus. However, he noted that Moscow provides Minsk with great assistance, in particular in the form of loans amounting to more than six billion dollars.
In early February President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that for the sake of independence the country can do without Russian oil. In addition, the Minsk, he said, has the right to reduce the price of gas.
