Khodorkovsky resigns as Chairman of Open Russia

Businessman Mikhail Khodorkovsky will leave the post of Chairman of the movement “Open Russia”. About it on the page in Facebook wrote the Executive Director of the movement Timur Valeev.


 


“Khodorkovsky really is leaving the post of Chairman of the Open Russia movement. He promised it in Helsinki in November last year, saying that will be the Chairman of the newly established organization, the first six months,” he explained.


 


Valeev said that the new Chairman of the “Open Russia” will be elected in mid-April. Khodorkovsky himself while the reasons for the withdrawal are not reported.


 


Mikhail Khodorkovsky was convicted in Russia in two criminal casesrelated to fraud, tax evasion, hideanim of oil and legalization of proceeds from its sale. He was subsequently pardoned by Russian President Vladimir Putin and went to Europe.


 


A few months ago the ex-head of Yukos was accused of involvement in the murder of the mayor of Nefteyugansk in 1998. In mid-February 2016, Russia has declared Mikhail Khodorkovsky in the international search.
