Russian doctors have listed the main problems in the appointment of painkillers

The main obstacles in the appointment of narcotic analgesic drugs the doctors cited fear of criminal and administrative prosecution, as well as the complex legislation in this area and poor knowledge about its changes.

In the possession “of the Tape.the ru” were the results of a survey of physicians and patients on the effectiveness of analgesia, prepared for a closed meeting of the Council on guardianship in the social sphere under the government, held on 1 March with the participation of Vice Prime Minister Olga Golodets.

Criminal prosecution in the wrong, opioids are afraid of 70% of doctors, administrative — 62 percent. The complexity of the current legislation said 82 percent of respondents, and 73 percent in awareness of what is happening it changes.

Doctors also noted an excessive number of bureaucratic procedures in the appointment of narcotic drugs. For 39 percent of doctors, the greatest challenge is the collection of signatures and stamps on prescription. Another major barrier to timely and high-quality analgesia, 74 percent of health care workers called unnecessary paper work in the form of various queries and reports.

As for the patients, 50 percent of them noted that the prescribed medications do not help. 47 percent admitted that the pain had to call an ambulance.

That the doctor encourages patients to endure pain, reported by 32 percent of respondents. Another 43 percent said that health workers often don’t believe them in cases where appointed before the drug has no effect or stopped to help.

On a long queue when receiving a pain medication complained about 41 percent of patients. 20% indicated the unavailability of anesthesia during the holidays and during the holidays the attending doctor. Also among the problems was a complicated procedure of appointment (33 percent) and lack of the drug in pharmacies (21 percent).

The survey was conducted by the Association of professional participants of the hospice care in conjunction with the Fund “Faith” in February 2017 among 118 doctors from 37 regions of Russia and 249 patients and their relatives of the 47 regions.
