Dmitry Rogozin
Russia today is the only country in the world that can deter any aggressor, so it is impossible to talk from a position of strength. This view was expressed by Vice Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin in an interview to “Interfax”, published on Thursday, March 2.
About the need to negotiate with Moscow in a similar manner previously said the Pentagon chief James Mattis.
“I guess for the time when he served in the Pentagon, he’s a bit behind, not aware of the serious scientific-technical and industrial progress, military-industrial complex of Russia. Maybe he lives some illusions about the “old rusty Russian rockets.” When he’s done, such statements are unlikely to be possible”, — said Rogozin.
He stressed that the logistics of security and defense are at a high level. “We have restored this power, the power of the country. Should agree with us”, — said the politician.
On 15 February in a speech at the meeting of defense Ministers of the countries participating in NATO in Brussels Mattis stated the absence of conditions for military cooperation with Moscow and has called for dialogue with Russia from a position of strength.
The head of the defense Ministry Sergei Shoigu pointed out the futility of this approach. At the same time, he reiterated the readiness of his Department to establish relationships with American colleagues.
In mid-January, Mattis called Russia the main threat to the United States.
