Honorary Consul of Poland in the U.S. state of Ohio Mary Szonert-Binienda suspended from work because of a post in Facebook. The decision adopted by the Polish foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski, said on Sunday, April 30, Associated Press.
As reported, on her Facebook page was posted a collage of President of the European Council Donald Tusk in the form of an SS officer.
Szonert-Binienda told the AP that the account was probably hacked because she no longer has access to it. “I have not created a photo of Donald Tusk in the form of SS. I am against the promotion of Nazi symbols and ideology,” she said.
The honorary Consul also noted that the negative attitude to “use such words as “fascism” in contemporary political discourse”. “I compare our politicians to Hitler” — said Szonert-Binienda.
According to her, the attack on account might occur because of her “connection with the Smolensk affair”: her husband is a scientist and engineer Wieslaw Binienda included in a government Commission to investigate the plane crash near Smolensk in April 2010, which killed including Polish President Lech Kaczynski and his wife.
