The Supreme court recognized “Jehovah’s Witnesses” extremist organization and banned its activities in the country, reports TASS.
The decision States the immediate cessation of the activities of 395 branches of the organization operating on the territory of Russia.
In turn, the representative of “Jehovah’s Witnesses” have declared intention to address in operatsionnuyu authority and, if necessary, to reach the ECHR. The decision will take effect in 30 days.
Earlier in April, “Jehovah’s Witnesses” have asked the Supreme court to declare them a victim of political repression, however, the claim was not accepted.
March 17, the justice Department appealed to the Supreme court with the claim about a ban of the organization in Russia, because during the inspection revealed violations of anti-extremist legislation. A few days later the work of the management centre “witnesses of iegovy” in Russia was suspended. The parent organization made the list of extremist organizations of the Ministry of justice.
“Witnesses iegovy” — the international religious movement, which has over seven million supporters. The headquarters of the organization is in new York. Adherents of the movement are accused of negligent attitude to life because of the refusal of medical operations and blood transfusions. Also they blamed for the destruction of families and the refusal to serve in the army.
