Blocking in the Organization for the prohibition of chemical weapons (OPCW) presented a project on incident in the Syrian province of Idlib and the accusations against Damascus to use chemical agents like trying to switch to the idea of regime change in Syria. This opinion, according to TASS, was expressed in Astana the Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov.

“I think this is a very serious situation because it is now apparent that the false information that chemical weapons were used by the Syrian government, is used in order to move away from the implementation of resolution 2254, which provides for a political settlement with the participation of all Syrian parties, and to switch to a long-cherished idea of regime change”, he said.

Lavrov expressed confidence that this can not happen.

Thursday, 20 April, the OPCW by a majority of votes rejected the proposal of Russia and Iran to investigate the incident in the Syrian town of Khan shaykhun. Six members of the organization voted for this project, 21 against and 13 abstained.

On 20 April, the Russian side has submitted to the OPCW a range of evidence demonstrating the nature of the staging of the incident with the possible use of chemical warfare agents in Idlib.

April 19, Lavrov said that Russia considers the incident with the alleged chemical attack in Khan Sheyhun as a provocation aimed at undermining the ceasefire and the political process in the country.

The US President Donald trump on the night of April 7 was ordered to launch a missile attack on the airfield shirt used by Syrian government aircraft. Were fired 58 cruise missiles. It was made after April 4, the Syrian opposition said about the alleged use loyal to President Bashar al-Assad’s forces of chemical weapons in Idlib province, resulting in 87 people were killed and over 200 injured. Damascus denies any involvement in the incident.
