In Istanbul detained more than 40 suspected ISIS foreigners

Turkish police arrested 49 people suspected of collaborating with the banned terrorist organization “Islamic state”.

According to the Anadolu news Agency, the detainees were planned to organize a major terrorist attack.

Among those detained 41 people — foreign nationals. They were detained during raids by Turkish law enforcement agencies in Istanbul. Police also managed to find the detained weapons, ammunition and military equipment.

According to police, the detainees were planned to organize a large-scale terrorist attack ahead of Turkey’s constitutional referendum.

Earlier, on March 17 it became known about the arrest of ISIS supporters in Istanbul. Turkish police said that the detainees belonged to the same terrorist cell, which included Abdulkadir Masharipov who committed the terrorist attack in Istanbul’s Reina nightclub on the night of January 1, 2017.
