Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed profound condolences to the widow and relatives of the poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko. About it as transfers RIA Novosti, the press Secretary of the head of state, Dmitry Peskov.

“Yevtushenko was a great poet, his legacy is an integral part of Russian culture”, — said Peskov.

Yevtushenko was admitted to the United States on March 31 and died the next day, April 1, from heart failure.

The poet asked to be buried in Peredelkino, near Moscow, near the grave of Boris Pasternak.

July 18, Yevtushenko had to be fulfilled 85 years. In connection with the anniversary was a planned tour of the writer on cities of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

His first poem, Yevtushenko published in 1949. Three years later he published his first book “Scouts coming”. Then he became the youngest member of the Union of Soviet writers. In the 1960s, along with other poets he has performed at poetry evenings at the Polytechnic Museum, which became one of the symbols of the era of the thaw. Since 1991, Yevtushenko has lived in the US, but often came to Russia.
