Valentina Matvienko
The Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko has proposed to define in the Russian cities special areas for meetings. On Wednesday, March 29, she told reporters, the Agency reports city news “Moscow”.
“The law prescribed conditions. One of these conditions is the coordination of the meeting venue. It’s not a whim, the authorities are responsible for the safety of people. Have to get out of places that don’t inhibit the movement of motorists and pedestrians, to do improvement,” she said. According to her, in every city in the country should be such platforms.
If the organizers do not agree with the refusal, they should apply to the court of appeal, added Matvienko. Otherwise, the meeting will be considered unauthorized and the authorities will not be able to ensure the safety of people who decide to participate in it. The speaker stressed that the organizers should not call on citizens to join the outstanding event.
“We should not allow violence or opposition to the officers of the law enforcement order. For any state is always a very harsh punishment, they are fulfilling their duties”, — she specified.
Earlier on March 29, Matviyenko said about the need for dialogue between government and society. “I agree that we should not pretend that nothing is happening, hiding the head under the wing,” stated the Senator.
26 March in several Russian cities held anti-corruption protests, some of which were unauthorized. In the capital, according to police estimates, took to the streets about seven or eight thousand people. Police arrested more than 600 people, said the head of Department of regional security and combating corruption Moscow Vladimir Chernikov RIA Novosti.
According to the Russian Constitution, citizens have the right to hold meetings, rallies, processions and demonstrations, if it does not violate the established order.
