Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic drew attention to the worsening situation in the region. This was reported on the Kremlin website Monday, March 27.
“I would really like to discuss with you the situation in the region, because, we believe, by some external signs we see some even worsening. I would like you all to talk”, — Putin said.
He expressed the hope that relations between the two countries will develop positively regardless of what happens on “the political situation”.
The upcoming presidential elections in Serbia will be held at the highest level, I am sure the Russian leader. “We wish success to the current government”, — said Putin.
Earlier on Monday, according to RIA Novosti, the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow’s intervention in the election campaign in the Republic impossible. So he answered the question, how does the Kremlin to the statement of the presidential candidate, leader of the Serbian radical party of Vojislav Seselj on the necessity of deployment of Russian bases in the country.
However, Peskov stressed that the special nature of Russian-Serbian relations “offers enough high, intense pace maintaining political dialogue at various levels”.
Presidential elections will be held in Serbia on 2 April. In this post there are six candidates.
