Municipal officials were allowed to lead parties and NGOs

The state Duma adopted in the third final reading the presidential law allowing municipal officials to manage political parties and non-profit community organizations. This was reported by “Parlamentskaya Gazeta” on Friday, March 24.

“This is a landmark moment, we resolve a long-standing dispute. Giving civil servants the right to participate in the activities of NGOs and political parties, we are laying a strong Foundation of trust between state and society,” — said during the meeting, state Duma Deputy Anatoly Vyborny.

In addition to the removal of the ban on office parties, the presidential package of amendments includes a number of other changes. In particular, the obligation to report annually on the income will be distributed to the municipal level. In case of violations, the decision to dismiss the official can be made at the initiative of the Governor.

The same law obliges the University of the FSB to submit a Declaration of income.

In late January, the head of the Duma Committee on security and combating corruption Vasily Piskarev said that this law will allow “heads of subjects of Russia to more effectively combat corruption at the local government level”.
