The Russians have disagreed about the starting point of the history of the country
Moscow. March 22. INTERFAX.RU Every fourth Russian considers that the history of our country begins with the Kievan Rus (26% against 19% in 2003), and every tenth counts from the moment of the baptism of Russia (12%), reported “Interfax” in the “Levada-Center”.
Another 7% of respondents believe that the country’s history began with the formation of the Russian principalities, 5% from the reign of Peter I, and 3% from the October revolution of 1917.
2% counted Russia’s history from the creation of Muscovy, with the collapse of the USSR and the establishment of the sovereign Russian Federation in 1991, with the election of President Vladimir Putin, the 1% with the adoption of the Declaration of sovereignty of the Russian Federation in 1990. Meanwhile, 36% of Russians, answering a question, from what date, times, event counts the history of our country, said, “from time immemorial, from time immemorial”.
Sociologists also asked respondents what periods of our history cause they have a special, intense interest. For 38% of Russians in this historical period is world war II, to 31% — the epoch of Peter (XVIII century), for 28% — history of Ancient Russia (VIII-XVII centuries). The other respondents are interested in the late XIX — early XX centuries (18%), “the Brezhnev era” 1970-80 (17%) and XIX century (14%). Nothing in Russia’s past not interested in 15% of participants of a survey conducted from 2 to 6 March among 1,600 people in 137 localities of the 48 regions of the Russian Federation.
