Veronika Skvortsova
Minister of healthcare Veronika Skvortsova told about the plans of the Ministry to create in Russia a network of centres for forecasting and prevention of diseases based on personalized data of the patients, reports TASS.
The Minister added that these centers would also apply regenerative technologies — patients will be able to replace sick organs and tissues to a new, grown from their own cells. In addition, according to the Minister, the new medical facilities will be available to visitors personalized pharmacotherapy, which will depend on their metabolism and activity of enzymes. “This technology is also already in our country,” she said.
Also in the new centres, according to the Minister, will be operating robots, robotic prostheses for disabled people, devices for recovery of brain and more.
The term “regenerative medicine” appeared in 1992. In 2008, doctors from Barcelona, led by Professor Paolo Macchiarini conducted the first surgery to replace the patient’s trachea to a new, grown from the tissues.
In may 2016 the American robot surgeon STAR (Smart Tissue Autonomous Robot) for the first time in history, held a successful surgery on the soft tissues of a living organism — the imposition of intestinal anastomosis. However, the mechanism at the left is five times more than a live doctor.
