The Russian government instructed the justice Ministry to study the question of possible adjustments to article 212.1 of the Criminal code, providing punishment for repeated violations at rallies. This was reported by “Izvestia”, the Deputy head of the Ministry Dmitry Aristov.

According to him, the Agency received a letter from the government with the request to examine the decision of the constitutional court concerning the article. Now the justice Ministry will study the issue of a possible change in legislation and to prepare relevant proposals. Assessment Aristova, their development will take about three months.

The only person who was convicted under article 212.1, — the opposition activist Ildar Dading. In December 2015, he was sentenced to three years in a penal colony on charges of participation in uncoordinated protests in Moscow in March, 2016, the term was reduced to six months.

On February 22 the sentence was reversed by the Supreme court decision was reversed on the orders of the constitutional court.

The Supreme court (SC) of Russia has explained, that justified the Dading due to formal violations of the terms of criminal responsibility. At the time of participation of the opposition in a public event on 5 December 2014, which became the basis for his prosecution, there was no enacted court decision on attraction of the activist to justice under article 20.2 of the administrative code at least three times in 180 days.
