In the USA relatives of those killed in the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 have filed a lawsuit against Saudi Arabia

Relatives of the victims of the terrorist attacks that occurred on 11 September 2001 in the United States, has filed a lawsuit against Saudi Arabia, accusing the authorities of the Kingdom in supporting the terrorist network “al-Qaeda” (banned in Russia). A class action lawsuit on behalf of more than 800 people filed Monday in Federal court in new York’s borough of Manhattan.

According to the plaintiffs, among which are in particular affected by the attacks, Riyadh has provided financial and other material support to al-Qaida. As noted in the document, the Saudi authorities allegedly knew at least three of the perpetrators of the terrorist attack, which were the subjects of this Kingdom, had ties with this terrorist network.
“Saudi Arabia behaved in a duplicitous way, says the lawsuit. — She was brought to the United States and other Western countries as a state that is leading the fight against “al-Qaeda” and terrorism, when in fact the persons who acted on behalf of the Saudi government have provided al Qaeda a considerable material support.”
In this regard, the plaintiffs argue that without the help of Riyadh, the September 11 attacks could not be carried out. Thus, “Saudi Arabia is liable to the plaintiffs for all damages” caused to them as a result of these attacks, including the reception of the injury and the death of loved ones, celebrated in the filed court document. The holders of a claim are asked to collect from the Saudi authorities for compensation, the amount of which is not specified.
In September last year, the US Congress voted for a bill allowing the families of the victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, to file lawsuits against Saudi Arabia. In the United States has repeatedly suggested that the government of the Kingdom turned a blind eye to the activities of “al-Qaeda” and was even able to have contacts with the group, and therefore bear some responsibility for the attacks.
Riyadh has denied any involvement and stated that they will sell their assets in the United States hundreds of billions of dollars to prevent their arrest in the case of court decisions on claims of American citizens.
