Stephen Hawking plans to go into space
In interview to the program Good Morning Britain, the British physicist said that he was going to fly into space aboard the Virgin Galactic.
LONDON, March 20. /Offset. TASS Maxim Ryzhkov/. British physicist Stephen Hawking plans to go into space in the spaceship company Virgin Galactic, part of the multinational conglomerate Virgin Group. As reported by the Agency Press Association, said the scientist in interview to the program Good Morning Britain, which will be broadcast at 06:00 am UK time (09:00 GMT) on channel ITV.
The subject of happiness — a trip into space
During the discussion on what constitutes happiness, Hawking said:
My three children brought me great joy. And I can tell you what will make me happy — a journey into space. I thought that no I will not take back, but (the owner of Virgin Group) Richard Branson offered me a place (ship) Virgin Galactic, and I immediately replied “Yes”
The unwanted guest
In this interview, Hawking, who has previously called Donald trump “a demagogue”, also touched upon the outcomes of the US presidential elections and did not rule out that is no longer welcome overseas.
“The reaction (of the negative kind) on the election of Donald trump may have been exaggerated, but it is the result of a certain shift towards the far-right, more authoritarian strategies. Daily life in the United States continues to remain largely the same as before. I have a lot of friends and colleagues, and it is still the place that I love and which I admire largely. I would like again to come and mingle with other scientists, but I fear that I may not be happy,” — said Hawking.
The labour party and the Brexit
He also said that remains a voter of the British labour party, though, as scientists believe, the current leader Jeremy Corbin this political force has a real chance to win elections and come to power. And because Corbin has allowed the media to portray themselves ultralevel extremists, which, according to Hawking, he really is not.
Another topic of discussion in an interview with the British physicist became a Brexit, the enemy which has always been Hawking. And now he said that withdrawal from the EU “threatens the status of the UK as a world leader in science and innovation.” The scientist noticed that if the implementation of the outcome of the referendum aldabraensis 2016 is inevitable, that the country should not go on about the right wing of the Conservative party, tending to “hard Brexit”, and to maintain the closest possible ties with Europe and the rest of the world, especially with China.
Disease scientist
In 1963, Hawking was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis — a chronic disease of the Central nervous system, which further led to a complete paralysis. In 1985, after pneumonia physicist underwent a tracheostomy, resulting in lost the ability to speak and began to use a speech synthesizer.
