After several weeks of experiments ornithologists have determined that the best Monica responds to energetic rhythms, and her favorite by far was the song “Louboutins” Sergei Shnurov,” — said Mikhailov.
The representative of the zoo said that as a result of music therapy Monica was much calmer. Now the bird spends energy on “dancing.”
Parrot has ceased to be nervous at the appearance of visitors, and even began to speak. Monica can already say a few phrases: “How you doing?” “Who are you?” “Who’s there?” calls the names of the keepers (employees who are caring for the bird).
“In the Kaliningrad zoo Monica arrived a few years ago from Poland. By this time the bird has suffered samodisciplina. It did not take other parrots, and she was in severe stress. Most likely, due to the fact that the bird was artificially reared by people who had no experience with other dogs, was very attached to the people, with the result that react badly to a change of residence and a new environment,” — said Mikhailov.
She said that in addition to music therapy, ornithologists routinely use a variety of techniques enriching environments that allow the birds to use their natural skills. For example, Abyssinian ravens offer trough “with a secret”, set all kinds of parrots homemade toys from natural materials.
Kaliningrad zoo — one of the oldest in Russia. It is located on the territory of the former Koenigsberg zoo (pre-war name of Kaliningrad), founded by German entrepreneur Herman Claesson. It opened in 1896 it had a collection of 900 animals of 260 species. After the Second world war, the zoo was opened for visitors only in 1947. The zoo’s collection of nearly two thousand specimens of 300 species of animals, half of them are listed in the international Red book.
