The number of victims of cyclone “Anava” in Madagascar has grown to 50 people
MOSCOW, March 12 — RIA Novosti. The number of victims of tropical cyclone “Anava” in Madagascar has grown to at least 50 people, reports Agence France Presse with reference to the Executive Secretary of the National Agency for risk reduction and disaster management (BNGRC).
Earlier it was reported 38 dead and 180 wounded, and that more than 116 thousand people temporarily fled their homes due to damage, approximately 53 million are in special centres opened throughout the island.

According to the Executive Secretary of the BNGRC, Thierry Fan, just a natural disaster has affected more than 176 thousand people. He also noted that it was open 137 centres affected by the cyclone.
As the Agency notes, citing data from the International Committee of the red cross (ICRC), is the most powerful cyclone in Madagascar since 2012
The cyclone reached the northeastern coast of the island in the second half of the day on Tuesday. Gusts of wind reached 300 kilometers per hour.
