The winners of the Universiade gave Putin a plush husky

Russian President Vladimir Putin during trip to Krasnoyarsk gave the symbol of the Universiade, which will be held in the Siberian city in 2019, toy husky. About it reports “Russian newspaper” on Wednesday, March 1.

Putin congratulated Russian athletes on winning the competition, held this year in Almaty. “Recently, a couple of days ago I met with the President of Kazakhstan [Nursultan Nazarbayev], he talked about the performance of their athletes, and your speech. They’re not really worried… proud of my second place”, — said the Russian leader.

He expressed hope that the athletes participating in the winter Universiade-2017, will perform at competitions in Krasnoyarsk in two years. “You will be a good change in the sport of high achievements,” the President added.

On 26 February it was reported that Putin and Nazarbayev before the official talks ride along on mountain skiing resort near Almaty.

Russian team, which included more than 300 students from 38 regions of the country secured first place in the medal standings of the Universiade, ahead of schedule, after the victory of Russian hockey players in the match against Canada. Following the results of competitions, Russia has won a medal 71, including 29 gold.
