The speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko said that the information about Russia’s attempts to influence the election of the President of France can’t be true. Her words leads TASS on Tuesday, February 28.
“This is absurdity”, — said the head of the Federation Council at the meeting with the parliamentary delegation of France.
According to Matvienko, in the last time “spread the horror stories that Russia wants to influence the elections in Germany and in France.” In her opinion, such rumors can not be “taken in humor.”
On 20 February Minister of foreign Affairs of France Jean-Marc Ayrault admitted that Moscow was involved in the cyber attacks on the website of the candidate in presidents of the country, the former Minister of the economy Emmanuel Makron. To him, the General Secretary of the movement “On the March” Richard Ferrand stated that the site of the campaign headquarters of Macron is exposed to “hundreds and even thousands of electronic attacks emanating from the territory of Russia”.
Official Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied this information, stressing that Moscow has never interfered and does not intend to interfere in the Affairs of other countries, especially in electoral processes.
Makron is a candidate for the presidency of the country from he created the centrist movement “Forward!”. According to public opinion polls, he goes to the second round of elections together with the candidate from “National front” marine Le Pen. The first round of voting will take place on 23 April, the second on 7 may.
