Peskov urged not to look for “gotchas” in the nomination of Medvedev as Prime Minister
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov refused to answer the journalists ‘ question, considered President Vladimir Putin, other candidates for the post of Prime Minister, except Dmitry Medvedev, the correspondent of “Vedomosti”.
“I can’t answer this question. This is an exclusive prerogative of the President (to nominate a candidate for Prime Minister — “Vedomosti”.). He has exercised that right and has put forward the candidacy of Dmitry Medvedev”, — said the representative of the Kremlin.
To explain why this time Putin did not announce the candidature of a new Prime Minister before the presidential election, as he did before the election of 2012, Sands was also difficult: “there is No explanation. Candidate (Prime Minister) nominated after the inauguration of the President, which was done”. Peskov urged “not to look for gotchas” in the nomination of Medvedev in different years.
Peskov also noted that not all employees of the Kremlin administration was aware of the fact that Putin plans to nominate Medvedev for Prime Minister. “This was expected, he knew who was not supposed to — he knew not” — he explained.
Peskov also said that candidates for the posts of Vice-premiers of the new government, which called on Monday, Medvedev, are the proposals of Medvedev. “It is the prerogative of the head of the Cabinet to propose those or other candidates”, — said Peskov. At the same time, the question agreed of these candidates Medvedev and President Vladimir Putin, Peskov did not exclude this: “I would not exclude the possibility that any negotiations took place”.
