Olympic games in Pyeongchang
In February, passed the XXIII Olympic winter games in South Korea’s Pyeongchang.
The winner of the Games was Norway, who won 14 gold medals, 14 silver and 11 bronze. Russia has won 17 medals and finished 13th in the medal standings. Poisoning Skripal
In March 2018 in the UK has been poisoned by a former GRU Colonel Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia. A fire in TTS “the Winter cherry”
The fire in the shopping centre, “Winter cherry” was March 25 and claimed the lives of 60 people, including 41 children. It is the second largest fire in the history of modern Russia the number of victims after a fire in Perm nightclub “Lame horse”.

The opening of the Crimean bridge

The world Cup
In the summer of 2018 Russia for the first time in the history became the host of the 21st world football championship which was held from June 14 to July 15 in 11 cities across the country. Won the world championship the national team of France. The Russian team at the world Cup showed the best result in its history: the team managed to reach the quarterfinals, where it lost on penalties against Croatia.

Russian mixed martial arts fighter Habib Nurmagomedov defeated Irishman Conor McGregor in the battle for the champion title UFC in Las Vegas. For the Russians, this victory was the 27th in mixed martial arts from 27 fights.

Forest fires in California
Wildfires in California that occurred in the autumn of the year, recognized as the most destructive in state history, and the most deadly in U.S. history. As a result of floods killed 88 people, more than a thousand missing.
More than 300 thousand people were forced to leave their homes. Fires caused billions of dollars in economic damage and killed more than 13 thousand houses. Among them were the mansions of many celebrities: Gerard Butler, Liam Hemsworth, Miley Cyrus.

Fight Kokorin and Mamaev
Players Kokorin and Mamaev October 8, become the instigators of the two fights in Moscow. The accident at the start of the “Union”
On 11 October during the launch crew to the ISS on the space ship “Soyuz MS-10” accident. The capsule with Russian cosmonaut Alexei Ovchinin and American astronaut Nick Hague was not injured, they made an emergency landing in Kazakhstan. The cause of the accident was abnormal operation of the sensor in the missile, which was damaged during Assembly at Baikonur.

Pension reform
In the past year was the adoption of the pension reform. Among the main conditions of the act — the gradual increase in age of the retirement age (to 65 and 60 years for men and women respectively); the right to retire two years earlier for people with extensive insurance experience (42 years and 37 years for men and women respectively) and the development of programmes to support employment and requalification of senior citizens.

Constantinople began granting autocephaly to a new Church in response to the request of the Ukrainian authorities. The ROC, in response, broke off relations with the Patriarchate of Constantinople. 15 Oct Petro Poroshenko announced the establishment of a new Orthodox Church in Ukraine.

Mass murder of Kerch
On 17 October there was a massacre in Kerch Polytechnic College. He was attacked by one of the students from the Polytechnic University — the fourth-Vladislav Roslyakov. In the tragedy of 20 people were killed and over 60 injured.

Husky and the cancellation of concerts of rappers
Since the second half of November in the regions of Russia has cancelled a number of performances of contemporary musicians, including groups IC3PEAK and “friend zone”, LJ and Husky.
