The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko at the end of the unifying Council in Kiev announced the creation of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Autocephalous Church.
“I congratulate all with the creation of a Ukrainian national Autocephalous Orthodox Church, which had just taken place in St. Sophia,” said he, coming out of the Church under the bells with the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andrew Parubiy and the representative of the Ecumenical Patriarch, Metropolitan of Gaul Emmanuel.

This was announced from the stage in the center of Kiev, the Minister of culture Yevhen Nyshchuk.
Earlier, the Ukrainian media reported that the draft Statute of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church stipulates that it will be headed by the Primate with the title of Metropolitan of Kiev and not the Patriarch.
