Greek sculptor and painter Kostas Varotsos for his work, chose not quite the usual stuff: he creates amazing sculptures and installations of glass, or rather its fragments.

The most famous sculpture of Varotsos — 12-meter statue called “the Runner”. Its sculptor is made in 1988 and dedicated to the national hero of Greece’s Spiridon Louis who won the gold medal at the first modern Olympic games in 1896.

A huge sculpture depicting a running man, composed of hundreds of glass plates lying in different planes, thereby creating the impression of blur “frame” movement.

During its existence “Runner” several times changed the location, but always remained within the limits of Athens.
In addition to this landmark for Greek sculpture, Varotsos has created many other amazing pieces and installations that are exhibited on the streets of Greece and in museums around the world.
