MOSCOW, 27 Sep — RIA Novosti. Education of the parents often influences the future of children more than their school performance, according to a study conducted by the Institute of education, HSE.

“The educational level of the parents often influences the future of children more than their performance in school. The Institute of education HSE found out what the role of this factor in the choices that the student makes after the ninth and eleventh classes. As follows from the results of the study, it is not always this choice is dictated by academic performance”, the study says, at the disposal of RIA Novosti.
It notes that “a family with a high level of education helps the student to select such strategies that allow you to get a good education even at a low performance”.
“Conversely, children from families with low educational level more often willing to “settle for less” or to ignore the opportunities that give them the current educational results”, — added in the study.
It shows how it “inherited” the educational level of the parents. If in the ninth grade in 49% of pupils at least one parent has higher education, in tenth grade, this figure increases to 61%.
