American artist and writer Steve Ditko, who worked on the creation of a number of comic book characters for Marvel Comics (“marvel comics”), including spider-Man and Dr. Strange, passed away at the age of 90 years.

On Friday he told the magazine The Hollywood Reporter, citing the police.

According to him, the artist was found dead June 29 in his apartment in new York. Presumably, he died two days earlier, the cause of death is not known. Ditko have no family left, he was never married.

Steve Ditko, working in conjunction with the famous comic book author Stan Lee, in 1961 he created spider-Man. The artist helped create and the other characters appearing in the comics about this superhero: Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Lizard and Green Goblin. In 1963, Ditko created the character Dr. Strange.

After leaving Marvel Comics for more than 10 years, he returned to the company in 1979. One of his last works was a Squirrel Girl comic, created in 1992.
