Howtown village on the island of Shanshan East of Shanghai was once a thriving fishing village, but with the development of civilization all began to fade: large ships could not enter the port, and the remoteness from cities affected the quality of life. Fishers and their families in search of a better life began to leave the village, and by the 1990s it completely empty.
In 2015 Howtown got the Shanghai photographer Qing Jian, who made a series of photos, again made the town famous. Reached here, the tourists. The houses and streets of the village like a blanket, covered with plants from this deserted land seems a backdrop to the tale.
