The Federation Council approved the law on the contracti
The Federation Council (SF) at today’s meeting approved the law on the response to the “unfriendly actions” of the US and other countries.
The law “is a framework and gives the government broad authority to respond” in those situations, when necessary, reminded the head of the profile Committee of the Federation Council on economic policy Dmitry Mezentsev.
The speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko noted that parliamentarians do not accept the sanctions and counter-sanctions, and they will be applied “to those States that affect the containment of Russia”. The discussion of the law was not. 152 voted for the Senator.
The state Duma approved the law in the third and final reading on may 22. Initially the project was supposed to give the government the right, in particular, to introduce a ban on the import of medicines, agricultural, alcohol and tobacco products from abroad. This version, however, caused many critical remarks: as found “Kommersant”, the administration of the President opposed adoption of the document in this form, even in the first reading. In the end the second reading of the draft adjusted: it removed the mention of specific sectors, which will affect the counter.
Yesterday committees of the Federation Council recommended that the law for approval. The head of the Committee on constitutional legislation Andrey Klishas has declared that sees no reason to accept the law as the government is entitled to retaliate. But called to support the document, because the law “unconstitutional” and he “no harm”.
