The Commission of the Federation Council will keep track of attempts to interfere in regional elections
Interim Commission of the Federation Council for the protection of state sovereignty and prevent interference in the internal Affairs of the Russian Federation will monitor attempts to “outside interference” in regional elections in September. This item was included in the list of activities of the Commission given in its report, examines the assassination attempt on the Russian electoral sovereignty, TASS reported.
Among the tasks of the Commission is to study in detail the “threats in the spheres of education, upbringing and culture, with particular emphasis on the risks associated with destructive influence on young people, including underage citizens and students.” In addition, the Commission must consider “the risks associated with the use of environmental topics in order to provoke protest activity and the subsequent politicization of such protests, and for using explicit economic harm to Russia.”
A single day of voting is scheduled for September 9. We will remind, the Interim Commission for the protection of sovereignty were created in the Federation Council in the summer of 2017. Its objective is called the tracking the interference of foreign States and international organizations in the internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
