Media: Paul McCartney has received from the hands of Queen Elizabeth II order of the knights of honor

The Queen presented him to this award in 2017.

LONDON, may 4. /TASS/. Ex-member of the rock group The Beatles Paul McCartney on Friday received the Order of the knights of honor for achievements in the field of music. As reported by Press Association, the award sir Paul took from the hands of Queen Elizabeth II during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

The Agency quoted the 75-year-old musician, who referred in that connection to their parents. “For me and for my family is a huge honor, and I think how hard would be proud of that my mom and dad are from Liverpool if they would be able to see it,” said he.

Queen Elizabeth II introduced McCartney to the Order of the knights of honor last year.

The high award was timed to the anniversary of the musician.

Now the musician gets the opportunity after his name to put the abbreviation of the name of the order — CH.

Its owner can be only 65 people of the Commonwealth, not including foreigners who were granted the title of honorary knight of the order. Among the knights of the order — writer J. K. Rowling, who created a series of books about Harry Potter, Nobel peace prize laureate Desmond tutu, former British Finance Minister George Osborne. In the past this order was awarded to Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Winston Churchill (1874-1965), the scientist Stephen Hawking (1942-2018).

McCartney along with other members of the fab four became a knight of the order of the British Empire in 1965, and in 1997 was inducted into the knights, after which it began to call with the prefix “sir”. However, his bandmate, is the only other McCartney is still alive beatle, drummer Ringo Starr, received the title of knight only 20 years later, in December of last year.
