Scientists have uncovered the dangerous effects of intoxication
MOSCOW, 30 Jul — RIA Novosti. Drunk people are more prone to homophobia and racial prejudice. To such conclusion the group of researchers headed by Professor Jonathan Superdom from Cardiff University in the UK, NDTV reported, citing the journal Criminal Behavior and Mental Health.
Experts conducted a survey among residents of three multiethnic cities of Cardiff, Blackburn and Leicester. It turned out that over 18% of respondents had been subjected to attacks motivated by certain prejudices, in this case in 90% of cases offenders were in a state of alcoholic intoxication.
Such statistics indicate that alcohol negatively affects the perception and awakens the aggression towards representatives of other races and sexual minorities, says shepherd.
According to the Professor, the result of the study indicates the need to strengthen control over trafficking of alcoholic beverages in “multicultural” areas.
