The Ambassador responded to the idea to rename the street in Washington in honor Nemtsov

WASHINGTON, 30 Dec — RIA Novosti. Russia is ready to accept any decision of the us authorities to rename the street in Washington, where the Embassy of the Russian Federation, including in honor of Boris Nemtsov, said Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Anatoly Antonov.

“The American authorities to decide where, when and who can call a particular area, or that street… We will accept any decision of the United States in this regard”, — said Antonov in interview to TV channel RTVI.

According to him, for Russia it is important that the decision on renaming was pursuing a “noble goal” and not “in defiance of the Russian Federation”.

Answering the question of what emotions personally, he will cause the work at the new address, Antonov said, “I have No emotions will not. I worked as my friends were working, so we will work”.

Before the relevant Committee of the city Council of Washington DC unanimously adopted the draft law on renaming of the street in front of the Russian Embassy in memory of the killed in 2015, the Russian policy of opposition Boris Nemtsov. The original proposal to name one of the streets of Washington by the name of Nemtsov was nominated in 2016, Republican Senator from Florida, Marc Rubio. The initiatives, if approved by the city Council the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the USA will receive the address “Boris Nemtsov Plaza, building 1”.

Nemtsov was shot dead in Central Moscow on the night of 28 February 2015.
