Seaside gardeners caught in the mining of 40 million rubles

Residents of Khasansky district of Primorye was engaged in illegal mining — rock — on sites leased for private farming. This is stated on the website of the regional Prosecutor’s office on Tuesday, 5 December.

“The unscrupulous tenants of the unlawfully produced more than 75 million cubic meters of soil, causing damage worth about 40 million rubles”, — stated in the message.

Mining was conducted in a total of 16 plots.

Initiated seven criminal cases of theft in especially large size (part 4 of article 158 of the criminal code). The issue of termination of the lease and on bringing to responsibility of officials, which had the responsibility to control what happens on the plots.

In July, police revealed the fact of illegal sale of amber in the Museum of the Peter and Paul fortress in St. Petersburg. The guards seized and sent for examination 217 of jewelry and four pieces of petrified fossil resin weighing over a kilogram.
