About 100 thousand residents of the Moscow region took part in environmental and Patriotic campaign “Victory Forest”, reported on the website of the government of the Moscow region. The event for the fifth consecutive year is traditionally held on the eve of the Victory Day.
The start of the action on the Playground in Istria was given by the Governor of the Moscow region Andrei Vorobyov. According to him, this year the action the authorities have prepared more than a thousand sites, “so that every resident of the suburbs of the capital, both young and old, veterans with children could come and plant a tree.”
Participants of the action on 337 acres of forest lands are planted about 1.3 million seedlings of spruce, pine and oak, about 110 thousand seedlings of trees and shrubs planted on the lands of settlements.
Andrei Vorobyov planted seedlings of pine and oak, and also spoke with great Patriotic war veterans who shared their memories of the events of the war years.
According to the Governor, the campaign has been gaining popularity. “If in 2014 came to an action 7 thousand people, this year more than 100 thousand”, – said Vorobyov.
