Authority of the city of Alexandrov, Vladimir region has postponed indefinitely the opening of the monument to Ivan the terrible. The head of regional administration of Elena Shulga suggested that the ceremony will take place after will be landscaped surrounding area. Her words leads RIA Novosti.
The decision to cancel the opening of the monument was signed by the head of Aleksandrovsky district Igor Pershin. The event was scheduled for April 29 “Will be a landscaped area of the waterfront, and then Igor A. [Robert Palmer] will decide when opening”, — said Shulga.
Earlier on April 27, the monument to Ivan the terrible was arbitrarily set in Alexandrov, and an hour later dismantled. It happened at a time until its author — the sculptor Vasily Selivanov was at lunch. According to him, the monument was going to “try” to the already installed pedestal.
The initiators of the monument had originally planned to put it to the Day of national unity on 4 November 2016. The cost of the monument is estimated at five million rubles. The Fund “Russian Vityaz” raised money through donations.
The first monument to Ivan the terrible was opened in Orel in October 2017 at the confluence of the rivers Oka and Orlik.
