The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has asked to seize the property of Gazprom
KIEV, 21 Feb — RIA Novosti. The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) asked the Department of state Executive service of the Ministry of justice of Ukraine to seize the property and assets of “Gazprom” in the country in the framework of the case about the fine to $ 6 billion, said the Minister Yuriy Terentyev on his page in Facebook.
Terentyev said that the AMC addressed to the Executive service with the request to take measures for the collection of fines from “Gazprom” more than $ 6 billion dollars on the basis of earlier decisions of the courts.

He also posted a photo of a letter to the Executive service, which, in particular, sought to seize the property and assets of “Gazprom” in Ukraine. “Please… to seize the property and assets of “Gazprom” and to declare a ban on its disposal,” — said in the letter.
Earlier, the Kiev economic court of appeal dismissed the appeal of “Gazprom” demanding to cancel the decision of Economic court of Kiev on the forced recovery from the company in favor of Ukraine fine on 171,8 billion hryvnia (about 6.4 billion us dollars) for abuse of a monopoly position in the Ukrainian market of gas transit. “Gazprom” has filed an appeal against the decision of the Kiev court, but it has not yet been reviewed.
AMC in 2015, wrote “Gazprom” the penalty for abuse of a monopoly position in the market of transit of gas during 2009-2015 in $ 86,86 billion hryvnia ($3.2 billion). “Gazprom” at the same time expressed surprise at this decision, as it does not conduct entrepreneurial activities on the territory of Ukraine by passing the gas to “Naftogaz” on the Western border of the Russian Federation.
However, the attempts of “Gazprom” to achieve cancellation of this decision in the Ukrainian courts is not successful, the AMC last fall filed a lawsuit in the Economic court of Kiev on the forced recovery from the company the entire amount of penalty and interest on the same amount for late payments. The claim for a total amount of about 6.4 billion dollars was granted by the court in December last year, Gazprom appealed the decision. In “Gazprom” fear that the decision of the Kiev court can be sent to forced weaning of gas from the transit pipeline, while the Ukrainian authorities deny this.
