In the state Duma introduced a project on the deprivation of citizenship for convicted terrorists
MOSCOW, 18 Jul — RIA Novosti. The leaders of the four Duma factions in the Duma introduced a bill according to which grounds for cancellation of the decision on acquisition of citizenship of the Russian Federation will be the conviction of a person for the crimes of a terrorist nature, follows from an electronic database of documents of the lower chamber.
The authors of the bill were made by Vladimir Vasilyev (United Russia), Gennady Zyuganov (Communist party), Sergey Mironov (CF) and Vladimir Zhirinovsky (LDPR).
As noted in the explanatory note, the legislation of the Russian Federation does not provide for cancellation of decisions on the acquisition of Russian citizenship in respect of persons who have committed crimes of a terrorist nature.
“In this regard, the bill proposes to amend article 22 of the Federal law “On citizenship of the Russian Federation” according to which the grounds for cancellation of the decision on acquisition of citizenship of the Russian Federation will be the conviction of a person to the punishment of the legally effective court sentence for committing crimes of a terrorist nature”, — stated in the explanatory Memorandum.
Deputies believe the drafted amendments will ensure the implementation of additional measures to protect citizens from terrorism and will contribute to the prevention of crimes of a terrorist nature by individuals who have received Russian citizenship.
“The adoption of the Federal law will not require additional spending at the expense of means of the Federal budget”, — stated in the explanatory Memorandum.
Earlier the President of Russia Vladimir Putin in interview to TV channel “Mir 24” said Russia to deprive anyone of nationality may not under the Constitution, but can cancel the decision, the grounds for obtaining Russian citizenship. The reason for this statement was the message of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, for membership in the banned terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG banned in Russia) Kazakhstan will be deprived of citizenship.
